When Martina asked me to take photos of her and her lively daughter, my heart smiled and said: “Yes!” Because with these two powerful women, you are bound to have a lively time in front and behind the camera.
Martina has been living in our new home city Den Haag for a long time. But as a fellow Austrian soul she is still very much connected to her home country, culture and language. After all she is one of the founders of Sprach-D-A-CH, an organization bringing children from German-speaking families together and supporting them in their language development.
And with a mum that creative and active, you can imagine the “Wirbelwind” her daughter is. And what a lovely one!
Our first plans were to take the photos outdoors on a sunny autumn day, but it turned out too cold and the kids (my daughter Sophia was assisting us 🙂 ) didn’t feel like taking pictures at all. So we decided to take it inside and meet again at Martina’s cozy home. All relaxed …
And it worked. Which didn’t surprise me, because especially with families I get the feeling that photos will turn out much more natural when the persons are in their own comfort zone. And besided, at home there is always something to keep the kids engaged with 😉
We took our time to warm up and I heard everything about the schoolday so far. We looked at all the things Sinterklaas had already put into shoes and boots, took Playmobil patients from and to the hospital, tried out a new comfy rug in the bedroom and found some cuddle time on the couch.
It was like an afternoon with girlfriends. And really cool ones too!
