If you are a parent, an expat and/or living in the Netherlands chances are high you’ve read at least one of her articles on The Huffington Post or BBC: Olga Mecking is a talented and active journalist/writer/blogger and mother of three kids.
Plus, above all, she has that kind of brain that you’d like to pick on a Sunday afternoon over tea and long conversations on the couch. No wonder, she’s the woman who brought the Dutch lifestyle trend of niksen to international attention. 🙂
I recently had the honor to photograph Olga in her home outside of Den Haag. She was actually one of the first women I met when we moved to the Netherlands last year and her family’s story mesmerized me from the beginning:
A transeuropean history with roots in Poland, France, Germany and the Netherlands, generations of curious thinkers, always linked by the search for identity. I am so happy for her to finally publish the translation of her grandfather‘s memoir, which I know has been a very personal and dear project of hers.
If you want to read more of Olga’s funny and witty work, make sure to check out her website The European Mama, where she writes about multilinguality, third culture kids, raising children, expat life and travelling. You can also join her on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
