“Just Breathe.” As simple as this mantra is Biddy Messchaert’s approach to guiding fellow human beings into a regular yoga practice. As a certified yoga teacher Biddy has just launched her very own Yoga Vayu.
Biddy is simply an amazing woman. Not only was she once an avid skydiver with a lil’ rock’n’roll history and is now an enthousiastic yoga teacher. She also makes the most beautiful shawls, headbands and accesories from hand-made felt in her home studio, located in the beautiful town of Delft.
I met Biddy online less than a year ago, when we were both getting ready for a trip to Berlin, where we would take a yoga class with Adriene Mishler. Little did I know when we met in person that day, that after rolling out our mats side by side, we would soon be also living just a tram ride away from each other. So when we found out we were moving to Den Haag, I came to meet Biddy again and our friendship took off from there.
When she asked me to take pictures both for Yoga Vayu and her Etsy shop Biddie’s, I was both thrilled and honored. Biddy’s dog Jilly was co-hosting the photo shoot and made sure everybody on the set stayed entertained. It was so much fun though, we will have to schedule a follow-up soon 🙂
Biddy’s story is long and the small intro on top is not giving her even half the credit she deserves. If she has taught me one thing it is that there is nothing in the world – no pain, no loss, no obstacle, no question of age – that will stand between you and your destination. If you follow it with passion and all your heart.
Because … “What if I fall?” “Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?”
